Rayville is located in north Louisiana on Interstate Highway I-20 between Monroe and Vicksburg. It is the parish seat of Richland Parish, and has a population of about 5,000 residents.

Nearby towns include Delhi, Bastrop, Oak Ridge, Holly Ridge, Mer Rouge, Winnsboro, Mangham, and Start.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Russel Sage State Wildlife Management Area, Big Lake State Wildlife Management Area, and Ouachita State Wildlife Management Area are a short distance from Rayville.
