A frequent visitor to the Retrospective, Jack Frost has written a number of short stories and novels. We are pleased to publish a sampling of his recent works.
Jack was born in 1937 in a house near 5th and Murray Streets in downtown Alexandria, Louisiana. He attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana-Lafayette) from 1955-59 majoring in radio-television and English. Afterwards, he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for his Master's Degree, followed by a work-scholarship at LSU working toward a PhD degree.
Jack then spent the next 40+ years in radio and television, plus some professional acting along the way in theatre and movies (extras only). He also spent time in newspaper and public relations. He left Baton Rouge and LSU in 1961 and moved back to Lincoln, NE, his second hometown and a town he loves to this day. In fact when he retired he moved back to Lincoln, where he currently resides. He did reroute back to Louisiana in 1977 when he accepted a job as news anchor in Lafayette. From there he worked in Lake Charles, New Orleans, and ended up in Alexandria at KALB-TV, just a few blocks from where he was born. During his TV career, Jack worked as a reporter, news anchor, and in news management.
Jack loves to write and tell stories. He is in the process of compiling short stories of his youth during World War II. He also just completed his first mystery novel (in between short stories) and is currently searching for an agent/publisher. If you know of someone who would like to take a chance on a fresh face, please send email to Jack.
A sampling of his work is included on this site (in Adobe Acrobat PDF format), as shown below:
The Tuskegee Airman (Fictional Short Story)
The Ice House (Fictional Short Story)
Aces and Eights (the first chapters of a mystery novel set in Louisiana)
