Lake Palestine Texas ... conveniently located in the rolling hills of East Texas just outside Tyler ... plentiful boating, fishing, skiing, resorts, camps and more! Arcadia, the parish seat of Bienville Parish, is located in the "Heart of Louisiana's Piney Hills Country" and was settled in 1855.

We've long known of Arcadia, dating back to our years at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, and student teaching at Arcadia High School.

Located in North Central Louisiana along I-20 and U.S. Highway 80 about mid-way between Ruston and Minden, Arcadia is rich in history yet offers a modern day lifestyle and the benefits of a much larger city. Some of our favorite towns in the vicinity include Athens to the north, Mr. Lebanon, Gibsland, and Simsboro.

Arcadia, with an elevation of 384 feet above sea level, is located in one of the highest areas of Louisiana. Nearby Driskill Mountain is the highest natural summit in the State of Louisiana at 535 feet above sea level. It lies about 15 miles south of Arcadia.

In 1934 law enforcement officials ambushed the infamous outlaws and robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow southwest of Arcadia on Louisiana State Highway 154 between Gibsland and Sailes.

Arcadia offers many amenities and things to do for both residents and tourists, including a beautiful 18 hole golf course, two museums, Bonnie & Clyde Trade Days, restaurants, antique shops and lakes.

Shown below is a historic postcard of Arcadia from the Alexandria Postcard Collection.
